Selfridges have showcased one of the newer grassroots clubs in Manchester as City and United youngsters prepare to go head to head
Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Kieran Tripper and Kobbie Mainoo were all cheered on in the Euros from the amateur clubs where they started their footballing journeys before going on to represent Manchester City, Manchester United, and the England national team. And in the windows of Selfridges in Manchester city centre and at the Trafford centre, there has been another grassroots club celebrated.
"It was a random DM on Instagram that I was close to deleting because I didn't believe it at first," said Brathwaite of the Selfridges call. "After an email, it took off and it is surreal. I keep saying the word surreal but that is the only thing that comes to my head when I think about it. "The only football we did was on the playgrounds, on the street and that was it. As I got older and got into coaching I thought I would have loved to have had somewhere where I could go and train but I didn't have a grassroots club. The fact I've created my own and am seeing what I would have wanted does hit home sometimes.
As some of the players Brathwaite has worked with look to make their mark in the Community Shield at Wembley, Bee Inspired are gearing up for another season of progress. The club have been welcomed into the grassroots scene in Manchester, and have around 70 players across five teams ranging from Under-9s to Under-14s.
