Aspasia Paspaliaris says she was not surprised when doctors revealed her daughter's cochlear implant wasn't working properly.

A similar cochlear implant issue emerged at Townsville University Hospital earlier this year.

South Australia's independent external review called for nationally consistent standards or guidelines for mapping cochlear implants. "If audiologists are accredited members of AudA, it may offer some reassurance to employers that these audiologists have at least met a minimum standard set and demonstrated that they have completed annual CPD," the review said.
