Mourners remembered Baird’s humour, sense of joy and love for his friends and family in an emotional memorial service in Melbourne.
The world has come to know Jesse Baird as a charismatic television presenter, a beloved friend, and a passionate football enthusiast in the weeks since his life was brutally cut short, allegedly at the hands of a jealous admirer.
Baird, a television presenter, died on February 19 at his home in Paddington, Sydney, alongside his boyfriend, flight attendant Luke Davies. He was just 26 years old. Their bodies were found near Goulburn a week later. They heard about Jesse’s sporting prowess, not only with the Sherrin but in swimming and water-skiing, too. How his great love was AFL, and he turned to umpiring when the potential for injury on the field would have caused problems in his role as presenter of kids’ show,could have been used to describe Baird’s enthusiasm as a presenter, as he bungee jumped, went skydiving, fed crocodiles and raced in V8 supercars.
