A 17-year-old boy remains in police custody
Police have said a name being shared in connection with the Southport stabbing suspect is wrong. Three children have now died following the incident on Hart Street in Southport on Monday. Merseyside Police on Tuesday confirmed the children who have died following the stabbing was a nine-year-old girl and two children aged six and seven-years-old. Eight other children suffered stab wounds during the attack, and five of them are in a critical condition.
' This incident is not currently being treated as terror-related and detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with it. The children had attended a Taylor Swift dance and yoga class. Horrified eyewitnesses spoke yesterday to the ECHO at the scene. Alaina Riley, 18, told the ECHO: ' Those children will be traumatised for life. They were on holiday - they’re living their lives and doing what they enjoy doing . My thoughts go out to the kids and their families.
