CEBU CITY—After a slow start, perennial champion National Capital Region started flexing its muscle and surged ahead in the medal rankings of the 64th Palarong Pambansa here on Saturday, July 13.The Big City trailed Region 4-A when the medal-rich athletics and swimming opened on Thursday but got its bearings going and wrested the overall lead in Day 3 of the sports fest.
Sparking NCR’s surge were swimmers Sophia Rose Garra and Ivo Nikolai Enot, who both came up with record-setting performances on Friday, July 12. It was actually a tight duel between NCR and Region 4-A at the aquatics center of the Cebu City Sports Center.Mojdeh won the secondary girls 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:41.75, breaking the previous record set by Xiandi Chua of NCR in 2019.
