Footage emerged on Sunday of a handful of fans abusing Everton players after the loss to Tottenham

Neal Maupay has criticised the abuse suffered by Everton players as they made their way back to Merseyside on Saturday evening. The Frenchman took to X on Sunday evening after footage emerged of some fans shouting at the team as they boarded a train at London Euston. Everton were returning north after losing 4-0 at Tottenham Hotspur. The Blues have now lost both of their opening games and sit bottom of the Premier League table.

'Imagine another job where it's normalised to get abuse like this,' said Maupay on social media in a quote tweet of the video. 'Hanging around at a train station to scream at men who are trying their best…' One supporter can be heard calling Maupay a 'rat', while one references Holgate earning '80 grand a week'.
