Neil Lennon reveals how Olympiacos near miss spurred him on and Scottish job offers that just weren't 'for' him
Neil Lennon has knocked back job offers from Scotland as the former Celtic boss waits for the right opportunity.
But the club still pulled the trigger and Lennon has been biding his time since. He admits there have been approaches for him to return to Scotland, but Lennon didn't feel any of them were right for him. He told the Herald: “I’ve had a few offers in Scotland and it’s just not been for me. Obviously, my base is in Glasgow. My family are here. I’ve no problem with working in Scotland again, It’s moulded me for 20-odd years as a player and a coach.
Mount Olympus would have been a cracker. Lennon made the final shortlist for the Olympiacos job - which could have seen him play Rangers in an Ibrox pre-season friendly this summer - but lost out to Diego Martinez. But rather than see that as a negative, Lennon choose to focus on the fact he was seriously considered by a club of that size.
