Neri Naig has been returned to Pasay City Jail's female dormitory after her arraignment at the Pasay Regional Trial Court scheduled for Thursday was postponed to January 9. The delay came after Neri's camp filed a motion to quash in response to her alleged violation of the securities regulation code . The court requested comments from the prosecution and the Securities and Exchange Commission on the motion.
Neri was arrested on November 23 at a basement convention center within a mall in Pasay City. She is also involved in an estafa case under Presidential Decree 1689, which escalates penalties for estafa committed by a syndicate of five or more individuals. Neri's husband, Chito Miranda, defended her, stating that she was merely an endorser whose image was used to attract investors, and that she received no formal notice about the criminal complaint.
