New £400 energy bill rebate voucher update for every person topping up a pre-payment meter
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has shared crucial new information about the £400 Energy Bills Support Scheme which should offer peace of mind to people using non-smart, traditional pre-payment meters to pay for their supply. Much has been made of the fact thousands of these vouchers have yet to be redeemed and a warning was issued last week that they will expire in 90 days from date of issue.
He also said that if a customer requests an expired voucher to be reissued, suppliers should comply with the request. In a written response on Monday, the Minister for Climate said: “Suppliers should take action to encourage all traditional pre-payment customers to redeem their EBSS payment during the scheme month. Replacement credit can be issued up until the scheme closing date of 30 June 2023.
