Manchester United have published their first quarter results of the financial year
It was the first real sign of the major changes that Sir Jim Ratcliffe had implemented at Manchester United following his 27.7% stake purchase in the club at the start of the year.
Ratcliffe, who was handed oversight over matters of football and strategy at the club following his £1.3bn deal with the majority owners, the Glazer family, has been on a mission, with his INEOS firm, to make the football club more efficient and that has seen major changes introduced, including a reduction in headcount.
Amorim is expected to be handed a smaller transfer kitty than his predecessors, and that is not surprising given data from analysts at the Swiss-based CIES Football Observatory shows that the Old Trafford side had a negative net transfer spend of €1.3bn over the last decade, the highest figures of any club in European football.
