Navin Ramgoolam said his cabinet would consider the findings before making a decision about the draft agreement, which was negotiated by his predecessor but is yet to be ratified.
The newly elected prime minister of Mauritius has ordered an independent review of his predecessor's provisional deal with the UK over the future of the Chagos Islands. Navin Ramgoolam, who came to power earlier this month, has previously been critical of the confidential agreement, which is yet to be ratified.
He has previously expressed concerns that the details of the agreement had not been made public and one of his ministers suggested the UK could end up in control of Diego Garcia and its base for at least 200 years, rather than 99 years, under the deal. It comes following speculation that Donald Trump may attempt to block the deal when he becomes US president in January.
