A clue has emerged that a new restaurant or shop could soon be set up at a popular Nottinghamshire retail park. Planning documents submitted to Gedling Borough Council by the Crown Estate, which owns Victoria Retail Park in Netherfield , suggest one of the park's units could soon welcome a new eatery.

Planning agents for the Crown Estate, which manages King Charles III's land and property, said the change would allow the vacant shop front to be occupied again. "The purpose of this application is to increase the marketability of the unit and bring the unit back to active economic use," planners from property consultancy Montagu Evans explained.

It has not been specified which business could take over the unit but it is predicted to attract interest once planning permission is granted. The planning application is currently pending consideration by Gedling Borough Council, with a decision expected by March 17.
