It is hoped that the business will be up and running by December 2024

A new salon is set to open in a building that was a former barbershop by day and a bar by night. Halt Salon will open its doors in Burton Joyce later this year with a range of services, including traditional haircuts and also hair extensions.

The new family-run salon will be in the former barber shop and bar building on Station Road, which was occupied by the licensed bar for around three decades before it sadly closed. Director of Halt Salon, Colin Brown, said: "The plans are to start within the next week or so, and there will be around £30,000 investment in it to get it to where it needs to be internally and externally.

He added that if all goes well the business plans to open for the first week of December. Although it will be a family-run business, Mr Brown shared that there will be opportunities for four other stylists as well as an apprentice. He continued: "It's a bit of a derelict space at the moment, I think it's been empty for the last 12 months. It's a great location in terms of where it is. There are salons everywhere in Nottinghamshire but in terms of Burton Joyce, I think there's only one locally.

"It's a big investment for us as a family but there will be opportunities for others to join." Mr Brown added that at some point they may also hire a beauty therapist to offer even more services for the area.
