At this point in the process, there are obvious top prospects at several positions for the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. Georgia’s Brock Bowers is in a tight end tier by himself. The real question: Is he the type of unicorn that warrants a top-10 pick?
With his athletic tools, at his size, Bowers is a certified weapon. Not only did he lead college football tight ends in receiving last season, but he also topped his position with 479 yards after the catch — no other tight end even reached 400. He added 109 yards rushing on sweeps and reverses, which are plays you rarely see schemed up for a tight end. Bowers boasts elite focus and ball skills to be reliable at the catch point, whether he is wide open or triple covered in traffic.
Early in his first season in Athens, it was obvious Bowers was different from most freshmen. He was part of the .01 percent who could have realistically left for the NFL after one season and been a first-round pick. After posting 56 catches for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns as a freshman All-American, Bowers followed up with a team-best 63 receptions for 942 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore. Now entering Year 3, he is only 795 receiving yards away from passing A.J.
