There has been 'significant damage' to the rail network across Northern Ireland

Translink have issued an update on bus and train services amid ongoing disruption from Storm Éowyn in Northern Ireland. All train services are cancelled for the rest of the day, with a likely impact to some services on Saturday, January 25 too.

Earlier on Friday, as Northern Ireland was under a red weather warning, Translink cancelled all services until the most alert ended at 2pm. An amber wind warning remains in place until 9pm on Friday night.Read more: Translink confirm further impact to rail and bus services due to Storm Éowyn “Specialist teams are now carrying out an assessment of the railway and the removal of fallen trees and debris; and repairs are underway to ensure the gradual safe return of rail services over the weekend. Our bus services will also continue to be affected this evening while work to assess the road network is carried out in conjunction with other agencies.

“Ulsterbus and Foyle Metro services are expected to return on Saturday, although they may be subject to some disruption and diversions due to road closures.
