The society couple bought the glamorous beachfront villa for about $13.5 million four years ago and did a cosmetic renovation.
Society couple Nick and Camilla Speer have sold their Portsea beach house with its boat shed in a deal in the high $20 million range.
Although the sale was concluded quietly, the home was advertised in a prior campaign as a five-bedroom residence set on almost 2000 square metres and built in the 1960s using repurposed materials from historic buildings in Melbourne’s inner city. It features striking columns and is laid out around a central courtyard and swimming pool.
The deal has three elements: the house itself, a sought-after boat shed and a mooring. Other boat sheds in the exclusive suburb have changed hands for about $1 million. There was a price guide of $27.5 million and the vendors are said to be happy with the result. Four sources with knowledge of the deal but not authorised to comment put the price in the mid to high $20 million range, but it is not known whether the property has surpassed the Portsea record of $26 million set by Ilyuka in 2010.
