Motorists traveling near Carnforth , Lancashire , are advised to expect delays due to planned over night closures on the A6070 , a crucial road connecting the M6 motorway to the A6 at junction 35. Lancashire County Council (LCC) will be undertaking roadworks next week, from Monday, February 17th to Saturday, February 22nd, involving partial and full closures of the A6070 between 8 pm and 6 am.
The roadworks are the final phase of a major project to resurface the A6070, ensuring it meets current and future transportation needs after serving for 60 years. To facilitate these works, the A6070 will experience various closure patterns: westbound traffic towards Carnforth from the M6 will be affected on Monday, 17th, and Tuesday, 18th February, while eastbound traffic remains unaffected. A full closure of the A6070 will be in place on Wednesday, 19th, and Thursday, 20th February. Finally, eastbound traffic towards the M6 from Carnforth will be impacted on Friday, 21st, and Saturday, 22nd February, leaving westbound traffic unaffected. Diversions will be clearly signposted during these closures. Motorists are urged to note that the schedule may be subject to change at short notice due to unforeseen weather conditions. The LCC spokesperson emphasized the importance of these maintenance works, stating, 'If you're traveling near Carnforth please be aware that we're planning a series of partial and full overnight closures to the A6070... This is to allow the road to be resurfaced as the final stage of a major project to bring it up to standard and make sure it meets future transport needs after 60 years in service.'
