ARA Chief Industry Affairs Officer Fleur Brown says “no retail month is the same” amid the 3.9 per cent fall of retail spending in December.

“What we pay more attention to is the year-on-year growth because no retail month is the same,” Ms Brown told Sky News Australia.

“We also tend to look at November and December together because of course that hosts the Christmas and Boxing Day spending period – these numbers are quite in line with our expectations.
