Noel headed back to home turf and told fans the 'best years of his life' were spent in Manchester as he recalled happy days in the Hacienda
Noel Gallagher made his first big public appearance since news of the reunion of Oasis - to speak about the "best years of his life" spent in Manchester. Noel joined a panel of guests discussing legendary Manchester superclub the Hacienda to celebrate a new book celebrating the fashion and the friendships formed there.
While Noel didn't discuss Oasis's spectacular comeback during the event, he did talk about their early days as a band in Manchester, and his life-altering experiences at the Hacienda. He also talked about how he eventually got "barred" from the club. The event on Wednesday night marked the official launch of the Hacienda Threads book which has been compiled by Rebecca Hook. It features previously unseen images of ravers at the Whitworth Street West club as well as memories by a host of punters and famous faces who partied there.
For he was asked about bucket hats and said: "never been a fan". He added that when it came to his own Hacienda style his go-to place to shop was Afflecks, the alternative emporium in Manchester's Northern Quarter. He added: "'88 and '89 were the two best years of my life, living on Whitworth Street, no one knew who I was."
