Children across Scotland are eagerly awaiting Santa's arrival on Christmas Eve. NORAD (North American Aerospace Defence Command) tracks Santa's journey around the world using its advanced technology.
With Christmas Eve nearly upon us, it's a day of excitement and anticipation for children across Scotland as Santa and his reindeer prepare for their long journey around the world delivering gifts. With young ones in Glasgow eagerly awaiting his arrival, many will be getting the cookies, milk, and carrots ready for Santa and his crew to help them on their travels.
One fun way to encourage them to go to bed early is to show them Santa is on his way by tracking his journey using the now famous NORAD Santa tracker. What route will Santa be taking this year, and can you follow it via NORAD's Santa Tracker? Speaking about the tracker, the experts at NORAD (North American Aerospace Defence Command) said: 'Santa usually starts at the International Date Line in the Pacific Ocean and travels west. So, historically, Santa visits the South Pacific first, then New Zealand and Australia. After that, he shoots up to Japan, over to Asia, across to Africa, then onto Western Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Central and South America.' They stated that though the route can be affected by weather and can be unpredictable year on year, they coordinate with 'Santa's Elf Launch Staff' to confirm his launch time, but added that from that point on, 'Santa calls the shots,' and they just track him. Why does NORAD track Santa? Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, NORAD's job is to track airplanes, missiles, space launches, and anything else that flies in or around the North American continent. They added: 'While the tradition of tracking Santa began purely by accident, NORAD continues to track Santa. We’re the only organization that has the technology, the qualifications, and the people to do it.
