Emergency crews responded to a fatality on the tracks at Leyland station on Saturday evening. Trains between Manchester and Lancashire were cancelled or delayed overnight due to the incident.
Emergency crews responded to 'reports of a casualty on the tracks' at Leyland station at 10.20pm on Saturday . Tragically, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A number of emergency vehicles were pictured outside the station as crews responded to the incident. Trains journeying north between Manchester Piccadilly and Lancashire were cancelled or delayed overnight on Saturday as a result of the incident. One person posted on X in the early hours of Sunday saying: "Is anyone on the Manchester to Blackpool train currently stuck between Adlington and Chorley???" Another said: "We got off at Blackrod it didn’t look like it would make it past Chorley."
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said the person's death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be passed to the coroner. In a statement to LancsLive, BTP said: "We were called to Leyland station at around 10.20pm on Saturday 30 November following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
