North West Ambulance staff among thousands of workers to strike in row over pay and patient safety
Ambulance workers across the North West are set to go on strike before Christmas in a row over pay and "unsafe" staffing levels.
The GMB said its members are due to strike across nine trusts, including those working for North West Ambulance, which serves Greater Manchester, the PA news agency reports.GMB said workers across the ambulance services and some NHS trusts have voted to strike over the Government’s 4% pay award, which it described as another 'massive real-terms pay cut.'
"Demoralised and downtrodden, they’ve faced 12 years of Conservative cuts to the service and their pay packets, fought on the frontline of a global pandemic and now face the worst cost-of-living crisis in a generation.
