The Northern Lights could illuminate skies across Scotland this evening. The Met Office said the natural phenomenon could be seen into the early hours of Sunday morning.
It will also be able to be seen as far south as North Wales and the Midlands, depending on cloud coverage. Simon Partridge, a senior meteorologist at the Met Office, told the PA news agency: "The Northern Lights will be visible tonight – until Sunday morning. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Scientists such as Professor Don Pollacco, from the University of Warwick's department of physics, have explained how the phenomenon is caused.
