Nottingham's tram operator, NET, is increasing its ticket prices from January 6th, 2025, citing inflation and rising operational costs. Despite the fare hikes, NET is offering a significant discount on its annual season ticket as part of its January sale.

Nottingham's tram operator says it recognizes the challenge of the 'growing cost of living' as prices on the network are set to rise again. NET says its full range of tickets will be increasing 'in line with inflation and the growing cost demands of running the network' from Monday, January 6. The price increases will see an adult day ticket go from £5.40 to £5.50 and an adult single go from £3.30 to £3.40.

The last price rise on the network came in June 2024, when NET announced the second price hike in six months. The announcement comes as NET also launches its January sale, which could see Nottingham tram passengers getting the equivalent of two and a half months free travel. The tram company says it is recognizing the 'growing cost of living' and offering passengers a huge discount on an annual season ticket. Do you agree with tram fares rising in Nottingham? Let us know here Running throughout January, NET is reducing the price of its annual adult season ticket by £200, taking the price from £725 to £525. This is the equivalent of just £1.44 a day and means that anyone using the ticket would be benefitting from ten weeks of free daily travel due to the savings made. Alison Sweeney, head of marketing at NET, said: 'After a festive season of splurging, lots of savvy spenders look to the January sales to make great savings, so we want to give people the best deal possible and set them up well for the year ahead. It's no secret that the growing cost of living is challenging for everyone and we want to make sure that more people have access to safe, reliable travel options. 'If you use the tram to commute, shop or visit friends and family regularly, this is a great opportunity to save hundreds of pounds in 2025, while taking the stress out of travel'. Those wishing to buy the reduced season ticket will have to do so through the NETGO! app
