Nottinghamshire shops renowned for offering the freshest and highest quality food and drink have reached the final stage of the Farm Shop & Deli Retailer Awards. These prestigious accolades recognize the UK's most cherished specialist retailers, serving as cornerstones of their communities and championing exceptional produce and sustainable practices . Last November, Fortnum & Mason in London hosted the judging day, where a panel of esteemed judges convened for a day of careful deliberations.
They meticulously considered the achievements and testimonials submitted by customers and suppliers. From hundreds of entries, only 52 finalists emerged, representing diverse categories such as best butcher, village store, farm shop, and online business, spanning seven regions across the UK.Among the finalists is Delilah Fine Foods, one of nine contenders in the delicatessen category. Situated on Victoria Street in Nottingham, this shop is a haven for food enthusiasts, boasting a comprehensive selection of cheeses, charcuterie, wines, chocolates, and other delectable treats. The competition includes notable names like celebrity chef Rick Stein's deli in the Cornish port of Padstow.Welbeck Farm Shop, with its impressive history in these awards, has once again been shortlisted for the best large farm shop. This Worksop-based farm shop prides itself on selling produce cultivated, baked, farmed, and brewed on the Welbeck Estate. Other contenders in this category include the renowned Chatsworth Farm Shop. Judge Matt Whelan, managing director of Fieldfare, the organization behind these awards, shared his enthusiasm: 'It is truly wonderful to meet the inspiring and passionate individuals behind these businesses. I relish the opportunity to learn more about them, their ventures, and their aspirations for the future. The announcement of the finalists generates a palpable excitement.
