Kyle Cameron had led the club for the last three seasons
Notts County have announced that Macaulay Langstaff will take over as club captain from Kyle Cameron ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. The 27-year-old has taken the armband from Kyle Cameron, who had assumed the role at the club for the last three seasons.
The Notts striker secured the Golden Boot for the fourth tier with 28 goals in 46 league games, and after another stellar year, there are inevitable rumours surrounding interest from higher up the pyramid. However, acceptance of this role has all but eliminated any fears from Notts' perspective of a summer departure for Langstaff, with commitment shown on both sides as the club move forward under new leadership in the dugout and on the pitch.
“However, we feel this summer presents us with an opportunity to bring constructive change to the leadership structure within the squad as we prepare to embark on what will be another highly competitive League Two promotion challenge. Maynard is yet to have the chance to properly coach Palmer, with the 29-year-old suffering a season-ending injury before the former had arrived at Meadow Lane, but the midfielder has made enough of an impression from the sidelines to be granted the vice-captain role.
