Notts County were knocked out of the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night after falling to a 2-0 defeat away at Lincoln City with Luke Williams getting much-needed minutes into squad players.

The two goals on the evening were preventable from Notts’ point of view, which was a point of frustration for the manager. Williams had no issues with the efforts of his team on the night, feeling the general sloppiness in their play against Lincoln’s solid defensive shape was the deciding factor. “You have to be sharp and clever, making very quick actions to play against that kind of pressure and create opportunities to score so it was a very dull performance from us.
