Signs initially went up giving residents days of notice that they would be banned from parking for four months
A Rushcliffe housing development will be monitored by authorities after concerns were raised about residents feeling "bullied" by a threatened parking ban. Taylor Wimpey are constructing a 90-home development off Colston Gate in Cotgrave and concerns were recently raised by residents around issues including site access and temporary traffic lights.
The signs caused particular stress for Suzy Palfreman, who has lived on Colston Gate for the last three years, and who says she's the only resident without off-road parking. She said: "I work as an emergency, on-call vet and so I need to be able to get to my vehicle quickly and to get all of my kit in."It's not ideal if I have to be walking five minutes up the road in an emergency.
"The contractors have agreed to engage with the residents to ensure that any works required take place with the minimal amount of disruption to both road users and residents, and we will monitor the works through regular site visits." Days after the yellow signs went up warning of the parking ban, Ms Palfreman claimed she'd heard there had been no authority from the highways authority, Nottinghamshire County Council, for the signs to be up and they have since come down.
