Dominic Perrottet says people would be forced to resign if they made similar comments about other religious groups, as debate continues over NSW gambling reforms.
abc.net.au/news/perrottet-responds-to-catholic-gut-comment-clubs-nsw/101910136NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has hit back at claims he is basing the state's gambling reform policies on his "conservative Catholic gut".
"I think it's fair to say that the premier has very little understanding of this issue and has acted from his conservative Catholic gut rather than based on evidence," he said. "The decision that I've made, and the views I have in relation to gaming in New South Wales, is not informed by the fact that I'm Catholic. It's because I believe this is the right thing to do," he said.
Independent MP Alex Greenwich, a supporter of gaming reform, weighed in saying Mr Landis should be fired over the comment.
