The California power grid would struggle to produce the power the state needs if limits on natural gas are embraced. Natural gas is much more efficient than other readily available energy sources for tasks like heating homes.
Natural gas is very efficient at heating and is ideal for cooking, drying clothes and water/space heating. On the other hand, electricity is very inefficient for heating and using electric appliances for those functions would increase power demand way beyond what the infrastructure can supply. Especially if there are more and more EV chargers drawing power from the grid.
Local politicians must see real data from SDGE before passing ordinances which will lead to system failure. Or be prepared to fund hundreds of billions of dollars for new power plants and infrastructure upgrades.
