A recent undercover operation in Lancashire, UK, saw 20 out of 56 premises illegally selling vapes to underage volunteers. The operation involved Trading Standards teams and Lancashire Constabulary visiting shops across the county between July and August.

More than 50 undercover vape stings have been carried out in Lancashire , with a third of shops selling vapes to underage volunteers.

These were found at two shops in Preston, one in Burnley and one in Colne. Officers then seized more than 300 non-compliant vapes. Investigations are now underway by the Trading Standards teams, with some that could result in court prosecutions. "It is so important that young people are protected from buying vapes. The active ingredient in most vapes is nicotine, which is a highly addictive drug. This means that a user can become dependent on vapes, especially if they use them regularly. It is important that we protect children from this potential harm. Anyone under 18 should not be vaping.
