Colorado has won five straight against the Padres and is a victory away from clinching season series
San Diego Padres shortstop Ha-Seong Kim looks on as Colorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers rounds the bases after a home run during the second inning at Petco Park on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024 in San Diego, CA. The Padres have won nine of their first 12 games since the All-Star break, a .750 clip that if maintained should easily thrust them back into the postseason.
The Padres and Mets both have a .532 winning percentage entering Saturday, but New York’s sweep earlier this season means that tiebreaker as of today has the Padres sitting outside the playoff field. Of course, there’s some two months to sort that out and the Padres will find themselves in a better spot if they can figure out a way to handle the Rockies , who have the majors’ second-worst run differential but have still outscored the Padres 44-30 in winning six of the first eight meetings.
