The Padres' Manny Machado playing a third straight game at third base for the first time this season
Perhaps Xander Bogaerts is locking in. The 31-year-old veteran has homered in back-to-back games heading into Tuesday’s game against the Rockies , the first time he’s done so since July-3-4 against the Angels. The home run was Bogaerts’ only hit in Monday’s loss, but a home run on Sunday had snapped an 0-for-18 skid. His average exit velocity is currently a career-low, but Bogaerts’ last five balls in play have been 95 mph and above and Monday’s 111.
318 with four homers and 13 RBIs on the season. He will serve as the DH on Tuesday as Manny Machado is playing in the field at third base in a third straight game, a first this season. That will push Luis Arraez into just his second start at second base since joining the Padres. Like Bogaerts, Machado is off to a slow start coming off offseason elbow surgery. Machado is hitting .227/.283/.357 with five homers, with the last blast coming on May 3 in Arizona.
