A dad who was addicted to prescription painkillers collapsed and died just minutes after a suspected dealer dropped off a package at his home.
The inquest, attended by a number of Lee's relatives and friends, heard that he had been known to take as many as 10 co-codamol tablets at once and could take up to 30 a day. He had been seeking support from substance misuse organisation Horizon and was receiving weekly injections to help with the withdrawal symptoms.
Police attempted to obtain CCTV footage to identify the car and its registered keeper but were unable to find any of any assistance. A "cheap, black Nokia mobile phone" was found among Lee's belongings which showed he had sent a text at 11.02am the day he died in which he said: "Were you going to send 20 back mate?"
"I understand, to some degree, and I heard enough to know that there issue was that if people had known about the extent of his addiction why didn't they do more to help them. The difficulty with addiction is that it isn't as easy as that.
