Everton's new stadium promises a brighter future but first the Blues have one last chapter in Goodison Park's history to complete. In just three days’ time, Everton will kick off their historic final season at Goodison Park when they host Brighton & Hove Albion in their opening fixture of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.
There is still plenty of charm and with her intimate stands in close proximity to the pitch – it’s staggering to see pre-War footage of the Gwladys Street and Bullens Road stands looking virtually the same as they do now – she is still capable of producing some of the most-intimidating ‘bear pit’ style atmospheres in the land.
Perhaps more than at any other Premier League club, there is a generational gap when it comes to the Blues’ loyal but long-suffering fanbase. Older Evertonians, who remember the golden eras under the management of Harry Catterick and Howard Kendall, have seen their team be the best in the land on several occasions.
