The parents of two children murdered in the Southport knife attack last July have given their first television interview. Bebe King's parents and Jenni and David Stancombe, the parents of Elsie Dot, spoke on Good Morning Britain, sharing their daughters' loving personalities and calling for a public inquiry into the tragedy.

Elsie’s mother said: “From day one, all I’ve ever said is Elsie didn’t know bad. She was fearless in a sense. If Elsie knew that Taylor knew her, like all her dreams have come true.” Elsie’s father added: “She was so brave.” Elsie’s father questioned the system’s effectiveness, saying: “The fact that he’s been flagged up so many times and because he didn’t meet the criteria of certain things, he must be saying that, it just doesn’t work like that, does it?”
