One pedestrian is dead and another is in a critical condition after the pair were struck by a car in Beecroft. 7NEWS
One of the pedestrians, a 55-year-old woman, died at the scene. The other, a 54-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
“Both drivers were uninjured and taken to Ryde and Royal North Shore Hospital for mandatory testing,” NSW Police said. “Officers from Ryde Police Area Command established a crime scene which will be examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.” One of the drivers, a 20-year-old with a P2 driver’s licence, was subsequently arrested and charged with a series of offences including dangerous driving occasioning death and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.Both drivers will undergo mandatory testing.Beecroft Rd was closed in both directions for several hours after the incident, but has now re-opened.Anyone with any information about the crash has been urged to call Crime Stoppers.
