According to the Academy,"Coppélia" is one of ballet's best-loved classical works.
"I chose this because I think 'Coppélia' is relatable to the students... The story is great," Vanessa Zahorian, artistic director, said."We're doing the third act because it is a lot of dancing. The first two acts are a lot of acting, and I felt like to showcase my students, what I have at the time, it just fit."
The ballet school will team up with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra to have a live orchestra provide music for the performance. The show will also feature a divertissement, or a sampling of short dances from some of ballet’s most cherished classics that feature dancers' talents, as interpreted by Zahorian and creative director Davit Karapetyan.
