Australia's Foreign Minister announced the death of a beloved family member on Tuesday, as thousands of well-wishers sent their messages of support to the Senator.
The South Australian Senator announced the death of Francis Wong Yit Shing overnight in a heartfelt post to social media.
Senator Wong thanked medical staff at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne who had"shown us so much compassion" while her father stayed there. Senator Wong grew up in Malaysia before she relocated to Australia as a young girl.
