The Manchester City manager spoke about the group out in the United States at the halfway point of their trip
Pep Guardiola appeared to confirm that Manchester City will not have any new faces joining the squad for the final two games of their US tour.
The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this month that any City player who had made it through the group stages at the European Championship would be allowed to start their pre-season in Manchester in August. The four players that made it all the way to the final - Rodri, Kyle Walker, John Stones, and Phil Foden - have been offered more time off if they need it ahead of a long season that will run until July with the expanded Club World Cup next summer.
However, the official City website reported that there would be some extra faces joining up with the squad for the final two tour games after Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic arrived in New York. The Blues have landed in Orlando for a game against Barcelona on Tuesday before facing Chelsea in Ohio on Saturday.READ MORE: Guardiola says City have major problem that is 'impossible' to solve
Asked if he was expecting to have any more players available for those friendlies, Guardiola downplayed the idea. "I don't think so, everyone who was joining us is back. I give extra days when we come back to Manchester," he said. The manager also confirmed that he has told the four finalists from the European Championship not to come back to training until they want to kick a ball again - even if that comes after the Community Shield against United on August 10. City like to give their players four weeks of rest over summer knowing the demands that are placed on them during the campaign.
