Comedian Peter Kay has faced criticism for ejecting hecklers from his recent Manchester show. Kay defended his actions, stating that he was protecting the experience of other audience members. The incident involved audience members shouting catchphrases and making remarks that led to their removal from the venue.
Peter Kay has spoken out after having three hecklers ejected from his recent show at Manchester's AO Arena.
"I didn't realise it was an insult, she did look remarkably like Lisa Riley, I didn't realise that was an insult," Peter told ITV's Good Morning Britain. One of the attendees had been shouting "garlic bread", referencing one of Peter's well-known catchphrases, which led to the comedian calling for security to remove them.
An attendee expressed their disappointment to MailOnline, saying: "I've lost a lot of respect for Peter Kay after the way he treated the heckler at the end of his Manchester Feb 8 show. Amid these events, the actress mentioned in the incident took a graceful approach. Lisa, known for her remarkable weight loss journey where she shed 12 stone, posted an uplifting message on her Instagram account.
On Tuesday morning, the actress addressed the controversy directly, pleading with people on an Instagram story: "PLEASE draw a line under this now, I am not offended, never was offended. I love Peter Kay to pieces. Laughter is my favourite medicine."
