The Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc. (PHAPI) said on Saturday hospitals are prepared for the possible increase in COVID-19 cases following the detection of four Omicron subvariant BF.7 cases in the Philippines.

PHAPI President Dr. Jose de Grano advised the public to continue following health protocols to prevent the spread of the viral subvariants that cause the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in other countries.

“Siguro sa ibang bansa, kaya nagtataasan din sa Australia, Japan, at kahit sa United States, ay ito ang cause ng pagtaas na naman ng number ng cases. Dito lang sa atin parang di nararamdaman yung pagtaas ng cases kasi di lahat nagpapa-examine,” he added.being reported under Omicron subvariant BA.5The agency further said current evidence does not suggest any difference in severity or clinical manifestations between the BF.7 and the original Omicron variant.

The PHAPI president also reminded the public to drink and eat in moderation during the holiday festivities.
