Perfect for a weekend walk
This weekend looks set to be a little cooler than recent weeks but that may make for more enjoyable conditions for those looking to get out around Lancashire.
We're heading to South Ribble this time, starting from a village with a unique history and passing through parks, woodland and other residential areas before heading back. The route includes a stop at the Hunters - a dog friendly pub which has cask ales, a beer garden and a food menu which includes homemade pizzas.
Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre is the start and end point for the walk and the village is an interesting place to explore. For those wanting an alternative place to stop, there is not shortage of traditional pubs, microbars or restaurants within it.The village recently marked the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Bamber Bridge, a remarkable event which involved American soldiers and deadly gunfire.
The journey goes straight into Withy Grove Park and continues through woodland stretches which have some inclines and sloped paths so it's advised to ensure you have appropriate footwear and clothing. The walk was originally drawn up by South Ribble Borough Council, covers around 5.5miles and will take most people around two-and-a-half hours to complete.
