The Office for National Statistics announced earlier this month that Consumer Prices Index inflation rose to 2.2 per cent in July, up from 2.0 per cent in June. This figure is one that millions of people claiming disability benefits such as Personal Independence Payment , Attendance Allowance and Disability Living Allowance should start watching as the September inflation rate will determine the annual payment uprating.
The first thing that needs to be understood is that this figure is based on the July CPI - the September CPI is the one that counts and that number could go up or down.
