The Steelers defeat the Jaguars 16-15. The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing former Jacksonville Jaguars safety Ayo Oyelola to their practice squad. Oyelola will act as the team’s international exemption on the practice squad, bringing the practice squad to its full 17 players.
After winning the Grey Cup with the Blue Bombers, Oyelola was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he spent the last two seasons with the team in the International Pathway Program. He played in two preseason in 2022 and 2023 for the Jaguars, playing on both defense and special teams. Oyelola is the only safety the Steelers have on the practice squad after rostering five, with Jalen Elliott as the surprise inclusion. Rookie Ryan Watts was placed on season-ending injured reserve after suffering an injury in their final preseason game against the Detroit Lions.
