The plans have been submitted
Plans have been submitted to the council for the transformation of a former hospital's mortuary into homes.
Avant Homes, however, are hoping to transform the former mortuary into housing as well. They hope to do this with a minimum of changes to the exterior of the building, to maintain its historic character.According to the application, the windows will be retained where possible, with timber doors to match the existing style of the building. The interior of the building has also degraded over the years and so will need to be repaired and re plastered.
The Heritage and Design access statement says: "The building has had frequent break-ins, fly tipping and has had metal ripped out internally. Avant Homes would like to convert this to dwellings as the locality of the area is residential and commercial use would not be appropriate in keeping with the existing.
