Up to half a million extra people are expected to travel to Ohio to witness the Buckeye Eclipse. NASA scientist Kelly Korreck explains what to expect during the eclipse.
Planning is key, since up to half a million extra people are expected to travel to Ohio just to see the eclipse. The Buckeye Eclipse is almost here, and much of our viewing area will be at least see a partial eclipse or even the path of totality.
"Only a part of the Sun was taken up by the moon's shadow," Korreck said, "and what's different in this time is it happens to be that the sun the moon and the earth are aligning with Ohio and they're able to the moon is able to completely block out the sun.""Light will start to get weird and shadows will form," she said.
"The sun goes through these cycles where it creates weather, and things that explode and come off the sun come towards earth which can affect our power grid, our satellites or our communications, and so we want to learn more about this," she said. "Through the eclipse, we get the moon to be able to cover up the disk of the sun, and we're able to see these things that flow off the sun that create the weather.
