Others support the plans but not everyone is happy
A plan for a cycle track in a Pendle park using Nelson Town Deal money has split opinion between young and old, and raised questions about who will pay for future maintenance costs.
Phil Riley, a Pendle Council park manager, told the latest town board meeting that questions had been raised about public consultation and official town board records, which incorrectly said residents were happy with the idea. Mr Riley said more discussions would be held with local people and Pendle Council chiefs to find a way forward.
"I don't want to belittle the legitimate concerns of residents. But I also can't help feeling this is a storm in an open-air swimming pool. Stephen and I were both involved in closing it, which alienated people at the time. But time moves on. I think it was appropriate to consider a pump track. It's also important to listen to what local people feel."
Paul Hartley of the Brierfield-based In-Situ culture and community organisation, asked how the Barrowford pump track was maintained, which seemed successful?
