Plans for two new railway lines in Melbourne’s west have reportedly been axed, with new trains now set to run on the same track as the V/Line. 7NEWS
“We’re always planning for more trains more often right across our network,” he said.
“What is so pleasing is the recent state budget had $650 million allocated to it to make sure we get more trains on the Melton line and bigger trains. “Currently the Melton line has trains that have a capacity of 400 people. Our new VLocity trains have capacity of 2000 people. That will be a game-changer.He said the frequency of train services will be improved with the removal of level crossings and by “reducing the dwell time” for people waiting to get on trains.
