A decision on a new Aldi superstore is set to be made next week after rival operators Tesco and Lidl objected to the plans. The German discount shopping giant want to build a new outlet at the Paragon industrial park, Horwich , close to the Bolton Wanderers stadium and the Middlebrook retail park.
Vehicles will exit from a different junction onto De Havilland Way, controlled by traffic lights. A 132 space car is proposed with nine parent and child and nine accessible spaces. Tesco added: “The applicant relies on unevidenced assertions about the proposal’s lack of impact on the health of the town centre.” They said that a condition should be imposed to restrict any permission to a ‘limited assortment discounter’.
